Biblical Womanhood
Under Construction
Overview
Women are created in the image of God, and if they are believers, they are co-heirs in Christ. They were made to have dominion over all other things in the world, like men. This is hardly a lowly position. They also have the same calling as men: to serve the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, and strength. Female and male Christians are part of a holy priesthood.
In contrast to modern sensibilities though, it is true that wives are to submit to their husbands, who are the heads of their households. Husbands have authority over their wives, and both have authority over the children. This is a sensible order of things, as scripture says.
Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you. But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. (1 Corinthians 11:2–3)
Women are not permitted to teach men in church or be elders in general (pastors are elders). This is just as clear as their submission to their husbands from scripture, yet it is viewed as mean, unfair, and degrading by women who have been taught by our sickly culture.
All the same virtues that make great men make great women. That does not mean women should have the same roles as men, but character-wise, we should be aiming for mostly the same things. We are all of one Spirit.
Culture or Permanent Rules
Our culture, it cannot be seriously denied, is extremely egalitarian, or feminist. Women are not just allowed to do the same things as men, but they are even pushed to do things men tend to enjoy more or be better suited for. Some consider it highly offensive to point out plain facts, such as that men are stronger than women in nearly every case. It is also very ordinary for our entertainment to mock males and manhood, but women are rarely mocked. Women still normally expect special politeness and treatment while accepting no male authority. Remember that all this means it is far easier and more favourable to the world for a preacher to say that the Bible teaches men and women are virtually the same, and that there are no distinctions in authority.
Much of what is brought up in the rest of the article is dismissed by liberal Christians as only being supported in the Bible because of the culture of those times. Often, the argument is that a command was given because of a very specific circumstance in that church or country, and it does not apply anymore. Do not let yourself be deceived! The preachers who say these things are trying to please the world, not God. You must consider their arguments and see whether they have any proof for their claims.
Having seen for myself some of the arguments of the most prominant egalitarian scholars (they believe men and women have the same authority in all things biblically), I can say with confidence that these scholars are liars, plain and simple. It is shameful on their part, and they are providing an excuse for the disobedience of many. If you want to see examples of this scholarly lying, watch just a small portion of one of Mike Winger's Women In Ministry series. He provides all of his resesarch notes, so you can chase everything down for youself if you so desire.
